Card payment verification
We provide added protection for our online payments by enabling you to use a password to authenticate your identity.
These changes are part of the international ‘MasterCard SecureCode’ and ‘Verified by Visa’ programmes.
To take advantage of this protection your card must be registered with a participating card issuer. For further details, and to see whether your card issuer supports this facility, please visit:
If your card issuer does not yet support Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode, you can still make a payment online in the usual way.
Once your card is registered, you will have this added protection when using other participating websites.
If your card is not registered, your card issuer may ask you to register with them while making a payment on this website.
Important note
The intention of these fraud protection measures is to prevent
anybody who has obtained your card number and expiry date from using
them to make fraudulent web-based transactions.
When you
have entered your card details
- our website connects you, via a secure link, to your issuing bank
- the exchange of card information over this link is outside of our control and we do not have any visibility of it
- at the end of the process a message is passed back to us indicating whether or not the card has been authenticated
There are a number of different computer systems and networks involved in the whole process of card payment and verification, including those of your internet service provider and your issuing bank and any one or more of these could at sometimes cause a slow response.
