National Bike Week events: 18-22 June

Free Dr Bike and bike marking sessions

We are hosting a week of free cycling information stands including cycle guides, exchanging places, Dr Bike safety checks and bike marking with the Metropolitan Police.

Camden Peripherique cycle ride

A fun, summer bike ride taking in the many sights of the borough.
If you want a bike check, come from 9.30am onwards.

Recycling training and information workshop

Are you interested in recycling? Want to find out more about the service?

Learn about why we recycle, what you can and can’t recycle, and where it all goes at this fun, interactive workshop run by the Green Camden team.

Elderflowers and envisioning: picnic on the Heath

A musical picnic collaboration between Transition Belsize, Tufnell Park and Kentish Town.

Bring an instrument and some local food and drink to share, and swap ideas on how to create a more vibrant community around Hampstead Heath.

Meet at the band stand at 7pm.

Transition Belsize Food Growing group

Dig deep and join Transition Belsize’s food growing group, every Friday at The Premier Inn Hotel Car park site, where they will be installing some apple trees and fruit bushes.

Free draught proofing workshop

Our free draught proofing workshops for residents are back!

Delivered by experienced draught busters from Transition Town, every Camden attendee will receive £20 worth of draught proofing to get started on their own home.

'How to' workshop: Start growing food at home

This practical workshop is aimed at beginners. It includes: recommendations on what to grow, how to make your own seedling pots, as well as the opportunity to plant some seeds to take home with you.

A donation of £3.50 is requested to cover costs.

Family fun day

Don’t miss our fun-filled family day! There will be a host of stalls, children’s games and competitions providing you with hints and tips on how you can reduce, reuse and recycle more at home.

The fun day includes a bring and take stall, seed planting and a Love Food Hate Waste workshop.

Love Food Hate Waste – train the trainer

Would you like to take an active role in reducing food waste?

Then look no further, we have a few spaces left on a LFHW trainer the trainer session, where you will be given the confidence and knowledge to promote food waste reduction.

Free home insulation

Insulating your home can reduce the amount of energy you use, helping to cut your fuel bills and carbon emissions. Free wood chip for your garden

Is your community group in need of wood chip? Our friends at the City of London have an endless supply they are looking to donate.

Free smarter driving training

We are offering free sustainable driving training for Camden residents and businesses. The training takes 50 minutes from a central London location – a car is provided.

To be eligible, you need to have held a driving licence for at least 12 months. To book a session email: airquality@camden.gov.uk.

Timberland Earthkeepers Grant 2012

Any projects involved in Community Greening nationwide can apply for this grant. So if you plant trees, grow vegetables or taking steps to improve biodiversity in your community, then this is for you.

Find your nearest park and wildlife site

Greenspace Information for Greater London (GiGL) has launched a new website to help you find your nearest parks and nature areas. You can search by postcode, place name or using their map.

Introducing 'The Conservation Volunteers'

The British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) have re-launched with a new name ‘The Conservation Volunteers’.

If you are interested in getting involved with nature conservation work in Camden, then take a look at their programme of activities at btcv.org.uk


Sky ride local

We have been working with British Cycling and Sky to organise a series of 10 led rides in the borough. The rides are aimed at all abilities and are led by British Cycling qualified Ride Leaders.

Volunteers needed for re-use event

Get involved with ‘Stuff for Free’, a fun, community re-use event helping to redistribute good quality goods to new homes, whilst reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Volunteers are needed to help out on the day.
