Air Quality Summit – a review
Over 100 people attended Camden and Islington councils' Air Quality Summit in November at Camden Town Hall. Presentations by experts focused on the links between air pollution and health and the practical solutions to limit personal exposure. The summit heard that air pollution caused the premature deaths of 29,000 people in the UK in 2008, with an average fore-shortening of life of over 11 years.
The summit ended a call for more action by Government and the Mayor of London to improve air quality and for roads to be made safer for cycling.
